The truth is, "mindful parenting" isn’t just about our kids. It’s about us too --- filling our cups and being regulated so that we can tend to our lives and the ones we love.  Did you know that Mindful Parenting practice can actually help you avoid feeling burnt out or overwhelmed? It makes sense that we would get as much out of mindful parenting practices as our kids, but it feels like an important point to make anyway. Here are a few practices you can sprinkle into into everyday life: Breathing Exercises. Take a deep breath and count to 10 before you respond to a situation. Teach your child the benefits of deep breathing during tense or frustrating situations. Not only does deep breathing lower your stress hormone, it also gives you time to think before you react. Engage Your Senses. Take note of the details in your surroundings. What fragrances do you smell? What do you hear? Your senses help ground you in the present moment. Offer ways for your child to practice mindfulness. Part of mindful parenting means teaching your child the basics of mindfulness too. Meditation. Start your day with a daily meditation — or end it with a short reflection. Meditations allow you to dedicate time towards thinking and being... and it doesn’t have to take long! Even a 3 to 5 minute meditation can go a long way in recharging yourself. Just stop what you are doing right now to close your eyes and breath. You are meditating. :) Discover more about mindful parenting in this week's featured article. It can also help you cope with big emotions when you feel stressed or overwhelmed. When we take the reins of our feelings with mindfulness, we — and our children — learn to manage our emotions in positive ways, paving the way for self-love, self-awareness, and peace.Thank you for being the change!headshot signature Founder, Generation Mindful See what's new at GENM - Visit our store Facebook Instagram Tiktok Pinterest Twitter Generation Mindful | Making Connection a Habit!
