This goes for anxiety too.
I just saw this fascinating research that when we are feeling anxious, our ability to be creative is decreased.
So the researchers tarted testing the theory that the reverse might ALSO be true ---> our ability to feel anxious may decrease when we are being creative.
So when we start to feel anxious, we can:
2) think to ourselves, “What can I create?”
BOTTOMLINE: The idea is that when the brain shifts into “creative” mode, it’s harder to feel anxious.
So draw, play with legos, cook (or make a PBJ!), play an instrument, dance. Create something - anything! 🙂 and your body will begin to feel less anxious.
We can use this strategy ourselves as adults, and we can teach it to our kids.
I see you! Thank you for seeing (and supporting!) me too.
