Cult Pens Hello there! September has seen some lovely new fountain pens, and some inks that are definitely going to be some people's new favourites. Eagerly-awaited new inks in the Wearingeul World Literature series and Herbin's 1670 series; and some beautiful new fountain pens from Pelikan and Platinum, along with the innovative new Eclipse from Nahvalur. Shop What's New Nahvalur Eclipse retractable fountain pen Platinum's new Procyon pens, in red and black. Pelikan's M200 Golden Lapis fountain pen - the end of the cap, showing the Pelikan logo. It's not too often that a new retractable fountain pen appears, especially one that's doing things a bit differently. The new Nahvalur Eclipse makes a feature of the retraction mechanism by having the two ends of the barrel end in sections that slide in between each other. It's hard to explain, but looks super cool. We love the Platinum Procyon - a very understated pen, it doesn't look or feel flashy, it's just a good solid fountain pen. The little twist it does have is the filling system - the inlet for filling it is under the nib, lower down than usual, so it can fill up without having to dip so deeply into the ink. And by angling the nib over the last drops of ink, it can use up those last bits that most pens just can't quite reach. Those who love their vintage pens often keep a Sheaffer Snorkel around to use up the final drops of ink - well, now the Procyon can do the same job with a modern Japanese pen. Nothing against the Snorkel, it's a classic, but vintage pens aren't for everyone, and it's great to have more options. We should note that you'll need a converter to make use of this trick, and it's not included - so don't forget to add one if you want to slurp up those last drops! When Pelikan introduced their lovely blue Golden Lapis ink, with golden sparkles, it was very popular. Now there's the M200 Golden Lapis fountain pen, and it's getting just as much attention. Pelikan M670 Warm Grey fountain pen. Wearingeul ink bottle, with a swatch behind it, their new A Room of One's Own ink. Herbin's new Turquoise de Perse ink bottle. Pelikan's Souverän fountain pens are widely seen as some of the best available anywhere. The new M670 Warm Grey limited edition gives these pens a more understated style, with a body that's almost, but not quite, white, with black PVD coated trim and nib, to hide away its gold. Wearingeul's latest ink in their World Literature series is based on Virginia Woolf's A Room of One's Own. The title came from her argument that women were often excluded from writing fiction, because writing required a room of your own, and money; when many women didn't have access to these. Another ongoing ink series, where new inks are eagerly-awaited, Jacques Herbin's 1670 inks have added their new Turquoise de Perse - inspired by Persian turquoise, with golden glitter in the lovely and bright turquoise blue ink.
