Hello there!

January - at least up here in the northen hemisphere - is always a bit... well... yuck. Though it does offer the chance to go vegan and go dry; celebrate Burns Night and LEGO; write the old-fashioned way, and draw dinosaurs. And in terms of newness here at Cult Pens, it's a little thin on the ground (unlike the rain). So maybe not a whole cup of tea for this monthly round-up, and just one biscuit will probably do. What? No!

Shall we start with some videos? Why not? Thought we'd treat you to a few of our 'most watched' just in case social media's not your thing and you missed them.

Wearingeul's literary ink for January is a pinky-grey homage to The Glass Bead Game by Hermann Hesse, a novel written in the early 20th century but set in the 25th.

Montblanc produce the ultimate in pen protection - cases and pouches made from Italian leather to house up to 8 pens in super-sophisticated splendour! Cassis - a rich blackcurrant purple - is the latest colour.

The end of January marks the start of the Lunar New Year, and 2025 is the Year of the Snake. Nahvalur's tribute is a gold, green and silver Nautilus complete with a gimlet-eyed snake (not a real one) for a pocket clip!

2025 is also the year that STABILO celebrates 30 years of their Woody 3-in-1 - a chunky combination of pencil, crayon and watercolour. They're marking the occasion with special celebratory packs featuring flatulent unicorns and bilious tigers. Of course.

And Legami are preparing for Valentine's Day with a quirky selection of pink things, like a Squishy bear, heart-shaped highlighters, a cupid's arrow masquerading as a pencil and the fluffiest of pink fluffy pens you could possibly imagine.

So there was us, thinking Australian ink-makers Robert Oster had named their latest ink after a chewy sweet - a gummy shark.

But it turns out that there really is a Gummy Shark, one that's highly unlikely to fancy you for dinner because it's effectively toothless, and it lives in Australia (well, in its waters). So now we're thinking maybe that's the source of Robert Oster's inspiration. Who knows? Every day's a school day.
