STABILO's Woody 3 in 1 - a pencil, crayon and a watercolour, all in one chunky little package - can do pretty much anything (except make the tea). 

They're perfect for little hands (and not-so-little hands) and they're tough enough to put up with being chucked around, dropped, trodden on and even chewed, because they are, of course, non-toxic, though we don't recommend them as a source of nutrition.
