Cult Pens
October is for oceans of ink, red h'oct' advent calendars, opulence from BENU and (of course)... octopuses. Oh, and a Pen Show!
It's safe to say we have a LOT of ink. And we want you to have a lot of ink as well, which is why there's a 5 for 4 deal going on across many, many ink brands.
5 for 4 on inks
We've got your bog standard blacks, reds and blue-blacks that do nothing other than make a (dependable) mark; we've got ones that ensure words will still be legible many decades after you have departed this earth; we've got shiny ones, sheeny ones, sparkly ones and glittery ones; we've got everyday ones and ones you save up for. We've got Purple and Orange... and we've got Robert and Maureen.
What's New?
Ferris Wheel Press Festival Grove
It wouldn't be Inky October without a few new inks, would it? Let's start with Ferris Wheel Press. Their new colours for October both have a warm gold shimmer: Ambrosia Indulgence, a deep red; and Festival Grove, an acidic lime.
What's more, many of the newest colours, including Galeforce Green, Oinking Embers and Dearest Navy, are now available in sample-perfect 10ml bottles!
Philippines-based Vinta Inks have put together a tasty trio of holiday-inspired inks, which celebrate sweet treats enjoyed once the festive season gets going.
The set includes the golden yellow Bibingka, inspired by a baked breakfast rice cake; Puto Bumbong, the colour of a steamed cake made from purple rice; and Tsokolate, the warm and inviting brown of a mug of hot chocolate. Yum!

PLUS
PLUS - yes, we've had it before and yes, it's had a mention recently. But we've had some more in, so it's getting another little slot in Penorama.
There are now power-assisted staplers, glue rollers and scissors for kids; and the Camouflage Roller - the easy way to keep your private information private - now comes in colours other than green and blue AND there's a free refill to be had!
We love Rhodia. Great paper, lovely cover colours and they cater for every eventuality. They've just brought out their diaries for 2025, which seems like a long way away but isn't really.
Anyway, there's no time like the present to plan for the future. And you can do that in style with Rhodia!

LT1917 Bullet Journal
LEUCHTTURM1917's Bullet Journal has been created with founder Ryder Carroll's cooperation, and it used to be available only in black.
Which is fine. Nothing wrong with black. Everything goes with it.
But if you like your colours, you'll love this new Yellow version. Lots of opportunities to plan, ponder and prepare while being inspired by such a cheerful cover!
A couple of new things from Graf von Faber-Castell include the Guilloche Rose fountain pen, rollerball and ballpoint, pretty in delicate pink. And then - if you're feeling particularly flush - the Pen of the Year is here! It's an homage to the Ottoman Empire, with a blue and silver barrel design inspired by the Ottoman tents and featuring no less than 18 rubies. There are only 400 available worldwide, and it's available by special order.

Christmas in a pen - as only BENU does it.
This AstroGem fountain pen exudes the frosty nightness that we'd all like to see on a festive evening: gradations of blue from midnight to aqua, made crisp and sharp by the inclusion of silvery glitter.
It'll be available in December, but you can pre-order yours now.

GvFC Perfect Pencil Project Stellar
Graf von Faber-Castell's Perfect Pencil is exactly that - everything you could possibly need to keep a pencil in the manner to which it should be accustomed in one perfect package. There's a pencil (obviously), with an eraser on the end and a cap that protects the tip, acts as an extender and also incorporates a sharpener.
The newest piece of perfection is the limited edition Project Stellar, the cap of which is a matt silvery grey inlaid with an intense blue sodalite. Oh, and it comes with its own stand, so it's ready to launch into action whenever you are!
Scratch itchy feet without even leaving your living room, with the Wanderlust collection from Cross.
Each beautifully-constructed pen is a tribute to a sight worth seeing, whether that's Malta on the perfect sunny summer's day, Everest at its most majestic, the lush rainforests of Borneo or the exquisite natural sculpture that is Arizona's Antelope Canyon.
Pre-order now for delivery in November.

It's (not yet) Christmas
We've put this bit close to the bottom so if you can't bear the thought of the festive season just yet you can safely skip it. Or you might not even have got this far anyway, in which case its position is irrelevant.
Advent Calendars
Anyway, our Advent Calendars - Legami's and Diamine's, not just ours - are selling fast, so if you want something other than a chocolate-fuelled countdown to Christmas, get your (ice) skates on.
And Finally...
The Autumn Pen Show in London has rolled around rather quickly. But we are prepared, oh yes!
We'll have Esterbrook with us, plenty of pre-loved pens and - of course - the Ink Bar, which seems to have taken on legendary status.
It's on Sunday 13th October in Hammersmith and you can get tickets here.
Come along and see us! (Well, some of us. It'd be a bit over the top to have us all there).
London Pen Show
Today is World Octopus Day. Yes, it's a thing. And a good job too, because it's an opportunity to highlight the importance of preserving our marine environment.
Octopus Fluids
Octopuses are amazing (so's the ink). Not only do they have 3 hearts, they can open jars (should they so wish) and their 8 arms can each do different things at different times.
And you thought you were clever being able to rub your stomach while patting your head. Hmm. Try tickling your toes, tapping your nose, writing a best-seller, playing the trumpet, eating a crumpet and painting a portrait as well, all at the same time. Oh. You don't have enough arms. Well, that's a shame.
