We would never punish a child learning to walk for falling down... so why punish our little ones for stumbling when they are learning to manage emotions?
I think we do this because 1) it happened to us, and/or 2) we've been taught that punishment (rather than discipline) equals love and/or 3) we lack the tools and support required to do other.
Thankful, this is changing.
We are not our worst day, and our kids are not their worst day either, but we can learn from our worst days, and we can grow.
In love, not shame. Never, ever, ever in shame.
Here's to loving and accepting ourselves, that our kids may too.
