The DMV refers to the District of Columbia/Maryland/Virginia area. We are

now in Maryland. The day after Christmas we received the largest snowfall here in many years. As of today it is still on the ground with temperatures remaining below freezing.

Our remaining crew Brittney, James, Randy and Lisa closed up VJ Books for us and moved our remaining stock into storage. They are amazing!

Our remaining 10,000+ books will be relisted on ABE Books starting at the end of January. All items will be discounted 70%.

Virginia and I had never made a move like this so contracted with a "professional" moving company, BEACON LOGISTICS.

They quoted us an exorbitant rate and promised us the moon. They picked up our belongings on November 6th and said it would arrive on November 13th. We fast tracked across the country to get to the east coast before the truck. Needless to say it did not arrive, nor would they tell us when it would. Communications fell apart. A truck arrived a few days before Christmas - only with a portion of our stuff.

They could not find the other half of our load, nor would they answer our numerous inquiries. It finally arrived a week or so ago, after we contacted the attorney general, police agencies in all jurisdictions, etc. A lot of damages.

Long and short of it - BUYER BEWARE! Do not use Beacon Logistics in Florida (not to be confused with Bekins) or Moving Logistics in Los Angeles. Neither company is reputable, nor recommended.

We just wanted to say hello. Our area is bracing for the inauguration, so we will be lying low for a few more days.
