Yep, we know all about Dry January here at Wine Express. And we are absolutely on board… I mean, who doesn’t love dry California wines!! I know I do, especially when they come from a winemaker who has some of the best family pedigree in the biz! This low intervention (yes, natural if you want to go there) wine was produced by a winemaker who is part of the iconic Schramsberg and Martin Ray winemaking families, now that’s some historic Napa pedigree! And in all transparency, I’m not a huge fan of most of these natty wines. They are too funky, too petillant and typically just don’t have enough concentration for me. Yes, I’m absolutely generalizing… but I said what I said.
But this single vineyard wine from Mendocino was produced using such an incredible grape, and made in a fruit-first style with a lovely balance of acidity and tannic grip, that I was completely taken aback by how good it was, especially for the price ( https://e.wineexpress.com/c/AQjw5QUQ1b7RARjE8YPEAiCfsrEoF233Oz95VZgZW8YWG_E91VwThAWv8GZGNUdyhKmrRLQ ). And at 12.1% alcohol, it’s perfect for those partaking in Damp January as well, as that’s a really low alc level for a California red wine.
So here’s what I’m telling you… if you love natural wines, then you definitely need to grab this, as it will knock your socks off. If you are not sure about natural, low intervention wines or haven’t tried one yet that you liked, then this is something you really have to try.
