"Why" you may ask? I have been tasting Pinots from all over Cali for decades now, and I know when a wine overdelivers on quality compared to its price point. And when our tasting panel sampled the entire lot, its intense and focused pure fruit character was far superior to its peers. Not surprising considering the single vineyard it hails from.
This dense, chewy and incredibly complex Pinot ( https://e.wineexpress.com/c/AQjw5QUQrqnRARjE8YPEAiCXkqsoJh_VtDN4B3W9cfRlx0FMfAudgRrLqyI-KwfmohuWlq0 ) is produced from fruit solely in the iconic Gap's Crown Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast. Yep, the same one that Kosta Brown (yep, the former Wine of the Year), Sojourn, Gary Farrell and others source from for their top tier Pinot. While there's no such thing in California, but this would be a Grand Cru vineyard if it were from Burgundy.
