Most factories have 2nds, overruns, and fumas as a byproduct of regular cigar production. 2nds are often rejected as firsts due to color sortation, falling outside the range of acceptable color which is purely cosmetic – while others have wrappers with imperfections like sun spots. Overruns are a result of factories getting ahead of demand and overproducing, perhaps made during slow times to keep the factory busy or due to canceled customer orders. Then there are fumas and the like, made with the same tobaccos as its long-filler brother, but utilizing the cut pieces of tobaccos that are less-than-long-filler which arise during production of the premium brand.
