It started with $40 and a bundle of sticks…
In the fall of 2016, Matt Hartlage didn’t set out to start a business. With $40 and a bundle of reclaimed tobacco sticks, he simply wanted to make meaningful holiday gifts for his family and friends—gifts that reminded him of summers spent on his grandparents’ tobacco farm. One cold November evening, Matt crafted a snowflake to hang on his front door. His wife loved it so much that she posted a picture online, and within minutes, the messages started rolling in: “Where can I get one?”
That snowflake sparked something special. It became the very first Kentucky Tobacco Stick Snowflake, and it launched a journey Matt never expected to take. Now, each of his handcrafted creations tells a story of Kentucky’s farming heritage, family values, and the beauty of hard work.
