Today, Ace Hotel & Swim Club Athens opens. It’s our new home hugging the shore and rich in sparkling waters, long sunsets and the uncomplicated nature of seaside life.
Conjuring the enchantments of the Greek Isles from the mainland — a stone’s throw from central Athens’ mythical charm — Ace Hotel Athens stands as an overlapping expression of era, landscape and local craft. Sebastian, the ground-floor French American bistro, also opens today. There, our favorite things — drink, friendship, inhibition — flow freely and our pals at adored Athens’ bar Wine is Fine helped curate the wine list, sure to make everything just right.
“The Premises of Summer” is the Hockney-inspired mural on our front facade by the artist Claire Manent, who spent a night at this very site a decade ago back when it was the Fenix. It’s the tip of the hotel’s art program, a collaborative labor of love and a sweeping immersion into the present-day Athenian art scene in all its vibrancy, provocative honesty and gritty imagination.
And, though new, we’ve already got the goods: Every Friday and Saturday evening we’ll have DJs spinning. Poolside, too, on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Whether you’re sleeping over or not, we’d love it if you stopped by.
