Expert insights, Tips, News + Your Feedback! Here are some of our recent musings & news: Closing Time keeps ticking and another month about to close. September has been a fun one with the annual Apple 'iPhone & more' event, IBC, MacOS 15 release, new OWC solutions, and all the important things too which have nothing to do with any of this. But here to talk tech. :) On the OS front, it's really impressive that Apple pushes this annual cadence of new OS versions. I personally like to wait a little bit before I upgrade, and these latest are no exception. Impressive and feature rich, they also come with a few bugs being reported that soon will be squashed too. I'd suggest the right time for an OS upgrade is when you are not traveling, have made a fresh backup, and want specific features the new iPhone, Watch, Mac OS, etc is delivering. Whether hardware or software, upgrading for the sake of upgrading doesn't always bring a benefit. That said - overall, the new MacOS 15 is pretty slick and there are more than a few improvements and bugs it fixes over the prior. I look forward to MacOS 15.1. :) Also looking forward to what's next for Macs. There is nothing wrong with the current models. For many many users, Macs for the past 5+ years provide more capability than they use. All the Apple silicon laptops are great - if just for the battery life alone. This all said - a little surprised haven't seen the new Mac mini yet.... probably end of October. New MacBook Pros with M4 are highly anticipated as well... but will they be in October or not until early 2025? The rumor source mill has some conflicting positions on this. Thunderbolt 5 is the a huge feature we will be very excited to see on Macs of the future. Historically, Apple has advanced Thunderbolt universally. Once introduced on one new Mac, it's on all new Macs that follow. Thunderbolt 5 requires 8K support and enables amazing real-world data rates to Thunderbolt 5 storage devices (like our 'Best of IBC' Envoy Ultra) of well over 6000MB/s. For many, Thunderbolt 5 is far beyond what going to see benefit noticed... but Mac users in general tend to grow into these benefits pretty fast. So - I am waiting and as interested as any to see if Thunderbolt 5 comes to a Mac next Month as well as if it's now on all Macs future forward, or just some. We'll just have to wait and see. .
