Garmendia is a nice boutique factory in Nicaragua that makes West Tampa cigars and select La Palina blends. And not much else. Since those brands are high-dollar offerings, they're all real picky about quality and cosmetics. These segundos were classified as not firsts due to color sortation - slightly dark or slightly light - and blemishes - cosmetic things like a sun spot here or too many veins there. If that doesn't bother you, you're in for a helluva treat on a pound-for-pound value basis. Hand-crafted with the exact same premium tobaccos. Take your pick of Connecticut, Maduro, or Habano wrappers and long-leaf filler tobaccos.... the blends vary but generally consist of aged Cuban-seed leaves grown in Nicaraguan and Honduras. The Habanos are smooth and medium to full in body with some cedar, pepper, and leather. The Maduros are medium in body with notes of toast, sweetness, and subtle chocolate. The Connecticuts are generally milder with nice smooth creaminess. All-in, for the $1.75 per stick buy-in, full range of blends and vitolas, and solid factory pedigree, it's clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.
