The storied Remington arms company is an iconic American brand. So.... how'd they get into cigars? Great question. A few years back, Remington declared bankruptcy and found new ownership. Since the Remington brand is such a rock solid trusted brand for red-blooded Americans, we have what the marketing stiffs call "great overlap" with premium cigar consumers. Thus, Remington proceeded to pair up with Kaizad Hansotia, owner of Gurkha, and worked out a deal to create a line of Remington cigars. The end product was a win, crafted in both Connecticut and Habano versions, all long-filler out of the Dominican Republic and all great looking to boot. But wading into the peculiar waters of the cigar biz, while it might look easy, is rife with pitfalls. Flash forward a few years and it was time to pivot back to their core products – and leave the selling of cigars to the quirky tableau that is our beloved industry. So Remington broke glass in case of emergency and dialed up Cigar Page - and we promptly soaked it all up out of the factory, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of sticks.
