Counting Our Blessings This Thanksgiving |

Have you ever actually tried to count your blessings? If so, how far did you get before you lost track of the number?
For starters, God provides for your physical needs: the food you eat, the water you drink, the roof over your head. He provides the air you breathe and the ground on which you walk. He provides you with family, friends, education, and work. Most important of all, He tends to your spiritual needs. His Son, Jesus, paid a great cost to meet the deepest needs of your soul. When you recognize with gratitude—not just on Sundays or religious holidays but in your day-to-day life—everything He has done, you can be more patient about your as-yet unfulfilled desires for this world.
Your gratitude is bound to multiply as you look at some of the innumerable ways that God has responded to your spiritual needs. Though it’s humanly impossible to count His infinite blessings, that shouldn’t prevent you from trying! As the author of Psalm 103:1–2 encouraged,
“Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
