Don’t get caught in the wilderness without the right tools
While our predecessors made do with crude implements made of rocks and sticks, at Barebones, we understand that well-designed tools enhance the exploration experience. With that in mind, we designed this collection to be a complete set of essential knives & blades for any naturalist, outdoorsman, forager, or cultivator.
NO. 6 FIELD KNIFE
Field Knife
The number one item you should have while exploring is a knife. It’s the tool you’ll probably use the most. And, if you want long-lasting precision, quality and proper craftsmanship matter. Low-quality knives are off-balance, have a bad grip, and have blades that won’t stay sharp.

FOLDING SHOVEL
Folding Shovel
From leveling your campsite, to moving embers, to digging trenches for irrigation, this lightweight steel shovel is a must-have for camp and gardening work alike. Plus, it collapses down for quick, compact storage in your car or truck.

Hori Hori Ultimate
Hori Hori
Our most versatile implement, the Hori Hori Ultimate is the go-to if you need a rugged multi-tool with a heat-tempered, 6 3/4” pointed blade. Accomplish everything from pounding in tent stakes to sawing a branch to opening a cold drink at camp.

Japanese Nata Tool
nata tool
The 12-inch steel blade of the Japanese Nata Tool is ideal for making kindling and planking wood. This best-selling blade stands up to its name:
I couldn’t be happier with the NATA tool. It is exactly what you want. It’s a thick piece of steel that’s razor-sharp and hefty enough to chop or baton your way through any wood processing or trail-blazing that you need to do.
I take it with me on every trip (usually one or two outings a month), and it replaces my hatchet most of the time. It’s very well made, only requires touch-up sharpening after use, and is ridiculously sturdy. Again, it’s one of my favorite outdoor tools, and if I ever lose it, I will immediately replace it.

Pulaski Axe
Pulaski Axe
Inspired by the iconic park ranger and firefighter Ed Pulaski, this dual-purpose designed blade will be your forever axe. The high-carbon steel blade is ideal for chopping and counterbalanced by a curved mattock blade for digging roots.
